ComBank rewards scholarship winners

ComBank pays Rs. 2.9 million to Year five scholarship winners and it
has to date rewarded 338 students holding 'Arunalu Minors' Accounts with
cash prizes for achieving the 1st, 2nd and 3rd best results in their
schools at the Year five scholarship examination of 2008.
The Bank said it had paid Rs. 10,000 to students placed first, Rs
7,500 to those placed second and Rs 5,000 to students placed third in
each school. In addition, five students, who obtained the highest marks
in their Districts at this examination, were able to double their
account balances, up to a maximum of Rs. 50,000, under a feature
introduced to the 'Arunalu' Scholarships Scheme in 2007.
The total value of the Cash Awards paid out in this manner to date in
respect of the 2008 Year five scholarship examination was Rs.2.93
million, the Bank said.
Established in 1969, Commercial Bank is Sri Lanka's leading bank,

consecutive years by US based 'Global Finance' Magazine. In July 2007
