Soon to hit Majestic cinema, ‘Public Enemies’ is a 2009 American
crime film co-written and directed by Michael Mann. Set during the Great
Depression, it focuses on the true story of FBI agent Melvin Purvis’
attempt to stop criminals John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty
Boy Floyd.
The film is an adaptation of Bryan Burrough’s non-fiction book Public

1933-34. Christian Bale plays FBI agent Purvis, Johnny Depp plays
Dillinger, Marion Cotillard plays Dillinger’s girlfriend Billie
Frechette, Channing Tatum plays Floyd and Giovanni Ribisi plays Alvin
Karpis.
Harry Potter and the half-blood prince
Soon to open at Liberty Cinema, this highly-anticipated flick ‘Harry
Potter and the half-blood Prince’ is based on the sixth of seven novels
from British author J. K. Rowling’s popular Harry Potter series. Set
during Harry Potter’s sixth year at Hogwarts, the novel explores Lord
Voldemort’s past, and Harry’s preparations for the final battle amidst
emerging romantic relationships and the emotional confusions and
conflict resolutions characteristic of mid-adolescence. The book sold
three million copies in the first 16 hours after its release, a record
at the time which was eventually broken by its sequel, ‘Harry Potter and
the Deathly Hallows’.
Inglourious Basterds
Soon at Majestic Cinema, ‘Inglourious Basterds’ is a 2009 World War
II revenge film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino and released
in August 2009 by The Weinstein Company and Universal Pictures.
The film, set in German-occupied France, tells the story of two plots
to assassinate the Nazi German political leadership, one planned by a
young French Jewish cinema proprietor, the other by a team of Allied
American scalp-hunters. Tarantino has repeatedly stressed that despite
it being a war film, Inglourious Basterds is a “spaghetti western but
with World War II iconography”. |
