Presidential rewards scheme for exporters
 |
President Mahinda Rajapaksa makes a
donation to an exporter. While Prof. G.L. Peiris, Minister
of Export Development and International Trade looks on. |
Rewards payments were made by the President to several exporters who
braved the negative international economic climate and enhanced Sri
Lanka's foreign exchange earnings, at a ceremony held recently at Temple
Trees.
It was done with a view to encourage more exporters to explore
trading possibilities in the international market and also as a security
against the prevailing depressed market conditions.
According to this Presidential Export Bonus Scheme , exporters are
selected on an established criteria and they are entitled to a Rewards
payment amounting to 3-5% of export income earned within a certain time
frame.
