The 'Reggies' are back
The pinnacle of award ceremonies for creativity - be it advertising,
art or craft - open to anyone and everyone from advertising and
communication companies, production houses, publishing houses and
digital shops to freelancers and individuals, the 6th Reggies is set to
take place on December 11, 2009.
The RC Foundation are doing things somewhat differently this year;
attempting to recognize, reward and encourage new, worthy and in some
cases, neglected mediums of creative craft. The Reggies will be calling
for entries for exciting new categories such as Graphic Design for best
logo, stationery, business brochure, packaging and other corporate
material; Book Design for best cover design and best entire book design;
Best Use of Illustration on packaging, print campaign and political
cartoon; Online Medium best visual design for a website, best use of
animation and motion graphics; and Best Photography most powerful image
of the year and best portfolio of photography for a Print Campaign.
Said Tasha Marikkar, granddaughter of the late Deshabandu Reggie
Candappa and spearheading the event for the Reggie Candappa Foundation
for the Arts this year, "The Reggies have always sought to reward and
encourage those who strive to break creative boundaries and innovate and
foster eccentricity. In keeping with this ethos, the foundation has
decided to incorporate these creative craft mediums into our program.
This is a time of innovation and transformation in communication with
amazing opportunities for creative craft and the Reggies fully intend to
be the catalyst that brings that home."
With the competition open to all forms of print, radio, television,
photography and digital mediums in any language, a maximum of 6 entries
can be submitted by one participant (individual, agency or company) per
category for a nominal fee (single or campaign).
Entries will be accepted on November 12, between 9:30 a.m. and 4:00
p.m. at the Royal Colombo Golf Club Ridgeways Room. More information is
available at www.rcfoundation.lk.
Not confining their contemporary revamp of the event to entry
categories, the awards themselves will take on a new structuring where
there will be a shortlist of 5 finalists per category and the winner
will receive a trophy while the Silver Reggie Star (previously the 1st
runner-up) will receive a certificate. The Judges will reserve the right
to award a special Merit Award for any entry.
The judging of entries will be made by a well respected and senior
panel of Judges from the creative industry in Sri Lanka, with the
exception of the online category where a reputed and experienced panel
of foreign judges will be consulted.
