Jayantha Fernando no more

Jayantha Fernando (68) popularly known as "Jeff" among his friends
and colleagues passed away after a brief illness.
He had his entire education at Prince of Wales College and entered
the Colombo campus in 1961. Just after leaving school he joined the
Prince of Wales College Old Boys' Association and held various posts
from time to time and was the General Secretary for nine consecutive
years. He was the chairman of the various projects carried out by the
OBA. The OBA is the livewire of the College and there is no function
without him at the college and almost all the sports activities is
funded by the especially cricket.
During his tenure he was involved in organising the "Battle of the
Golds" the annual encounter with St. Sebastians.
His demise is a irreparable loss to the college. His remains lie at
No. 55/1, M. J. C. Fernando Mawatha, Idama, Moratuwa. Cortege leaves
residence for burial at the General Cemetery, Rawatawatta today at 4
p.m.
