Sampath Bank regains title

A gutty last wicket stand of 70-runs between Nuwan Perera (45 not out) and Malinga Surappulige (25) helped Sampath Bank regain the MCA Premier League title, holding Janashakthi to a "tie", at the 17th Singer-MCA Premier League, continued at the Colts ground yesterday. In the other game at the P. Sara Oval, HNB riding on a classic century by Saman Jayantha (103 runs in 93 balls, inclusive of 13 fours & a six), beat John Keells by 21-runs.

At Colts ground: Sampath Bank - 253 all out in 48.5 overs (Charith Sylvester 53, Hasantha Fernando 65, S. Kandanarachchi 40, Nuwan Perera 45 not out, M. Surappulige 25, Sajith Perera 2/30, T. N. Sampath 3/45, Dilshan Munaweera 2/24).

Janashakthi: 251 all out in 49 overs (Dilshan Munaweera 36, Yohan de Silva 46, T. N. Sampath 27, Sajith Fernando 30, Naveen Perera 22, Bathiya Perera 20, Gihan de Silva 25, Muditha Maduwantha 20 not out, Rangana Herath 4/35, T. N. Sampath 2/30, Nuwan Perera 2/40).

At P. Sara Oval: HNB: 257 all out 48.2 overs (D. Hunukumbura 30, Saman Jayantha 103, Shanaka Dissanayake 68, Thisara Perera 2/45, Upul Indrasiri 4/35).

J. Keells: 236 all out in 47.4 overs (Jeevantha Kulatunga 68, Angelo Mathews 56, M. VanDort 36, Sajeeva Weerakoon 2/30, Shanaka Dissanayake 4/35, Sajeeva de Silva 2/40).
