Sampath-Cargills co-branded Visa Debit Card for customers

Sampath Bank and Cargills Food City Ltd, signed an agreement to
launch the 'Sampath-Cargills Co- Branded Visa Debit Card' for their
customers in the country.
At the launching ceremony in Colombo last week. Joint organisers, the
Sampath Bank and the Cargills Foods Ltd, highlighted the importance of
having such a VISA debit card, where cardholders could enjoy all the
privileges of a debit card as well as a Loyalty Card.
CEO, Sampath Bank, Harris Premaratne said that Sampath Bank has 130
branches islandwide, including three branches in Jaffna and nine
branches in the East.
"In addition we operate 186 ATMs for the benefit of over one million
account holders at every nook and corner of the country,".
He said the Visa Debit Card can be used to make payments for
purchases at Cargills Food City outlets and also to withdraw money at
any Sampath Bank ATM or over 20 million Visa merchant locations anywhere
in the world.
Deputy Chairman, Cargills, Ranjit Page said that Cargills Foods Ltd
has over 140 branches in the country and another 100 branches will be
opened during the next three years.
He said people could use the Visa Debit Card even to withdraw cash up
to Rs. 5000 from any Cargills Food City outlet while purchasing goods
over Rs. 500.
Country Manager, South Asia Visa Worldwide, Uttam Nayak said that
unlike earlier, people do not carry cash, since they give a risk even to
their lives and therefore they commonly use Visa Debit cards, since they
are safe and could be used at any part of the world at any time. |
