Improving English, IT knowledge of Sabaragamuwa students

A program to improve the knowledge of English and computer literacy among schoolchildren of the Sabaragamuwa Province will be launched soon.

The Indian educational institute Rachna Sagar Pvt. Ltd. will provide textbooks and other physical resources to develop primary and secondary education in the Sabaragamuwa Province, Secretary of the Provincial Education Department H. P. Kularatne said.

Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Maheepala Herath and Zonal Manager of Rachna Sagar Naresh Malik had discussions regarding this program.

The almost 400,000 students receiving their education at 1,100 schools in the Sabaragmuwa Province will benefit from this project.

Chief Minister Maheepala Herath said students in the Sabaragamuwa Province will have the opportunity to make use of the textbooks and other material related to Information Technology education, donated by the Indian institute.

The institute has produced material for Indian students to develop their English knowledge and Information Technology education based on themes of educational psychology.

Kularatne said the program will also help students of estate schools and other government schools to update science and mathematics knowledge along with Information Technology.
