Two lost souls become one:

Inseparable friends!

Friendship! It is something we all seek and treasure, once found. Many of you must be having best friends at school or even in your neighbourhoods. Some of us cannot imagine life without friends because they are such an important part of our lives. However, friendship is not unique to humans. Like love, affection and everything else which is linked to our emotions, friendship too is experienced by the other group of living species that comprise the Animal Kingdom.

We have heard of many stories where strong bonds of friendship have been formed between animals, not only of the same species but also of different species; even arch rivals such as cats and mice.

We like to bring you a story about a young, lonely orangutan named Roscoe who had virtually given up on life but was given a new lease of life by none other than man's best friend - the dog!

Roscoe is a three-year-old orangutan living in a zoo in Northern California. According to the zoo keepers, he had been utterly depressed after losing his parents and stopped eating. He had not responded to even any medical treatment and the veterinarians had thought he would die of grief.

Meanwhile, the zoo keepers had discovered an old sick dog on the grounds in the park at the zoo where the orangutan lived. The dog had been taken to the animal treatment centre to be taken care of at the same time Roscoe the orangutan was being treated. And guess what happened? The two lost souls found each other. They are now inseparable! They are together 24 hours of the day in all their activities. The zoo keepers say that the orangutan found a new reason to live. It seems that each one always tries to do his best to be a good companion to his new found friend.

Swimming has become their favourite past time and even though Roscoe is a little afraid of the water his friend helps him to swim.

What great friends. They have discovered the value of friendship, by being together.
