 Going Bengal and bonkers!
In 2004, the drama Bengal
Bungalow rocked the core of English drama circles to a pulp. A hay-wired
and helter skelter drama at its best, it is sure to shun and amaze the
innocent of theatre-goers in an anticipated wait for one of Jehan
Aloysius’ offerings.
Bengal Bungalow is sure to be satirical and witty and just what the
city needs to revamp their otherwise mundane lives. Bound to be a
roller-coaster ride, Bengal Bungalow will stun your senses and put your
soul into a whirlwind.
Drama in Sri Lanka has been put on the back burner and only when
something ‘BIG’ happens only will it be activated again. However, what
people should realise is that the theatre is a platform for many topics
to be raised. For example, societal issues can be solved like a forum
theatre and stage performers can gain a better edge by being
instrumental to society in bring out pressing issues to the limelight.
In addition to this, being able to make people laugh is an art in itself
because that is what makes drama so dramatic here.
Set to take stage from September 17-19 at the Lionel Wendt Theatre,
Bengal Bungalow will be a fitting tribute to all things funny. Pilot Doe
crashes into the guestroom of a British family’s Bengal bungalow when
his craft goes into a tail spin. While the family marauds with their
hapless identities, witty personalities and hot-water trouble, the drama
is a magic potion of drama commotion.
The proceeds of the shows will be used to promote theatre workshops
and continue humanitarian work around the island, so CentreStage
Productions would really appreciate if a sponsor would come forward to
be a part of this exciting venture.
