Hambantota sees the light of the day

The Urban Development Authority has prepared various development
plans to make Greater Hambantota Development Plan a success and a
reality.
An extent of 112,000 hectares in Hambantota have been identified by
the UDA as the urban development area.
Plans have been drawn up to utilise this extent of land for various
development activities under Greater Hambantota Development Plan.
Attention has been focused on existing town of Hambantota and
Hambantota divisional secretariat area.
Hambantota Siribopura will be developed to the status of a new town
taking into consideration the Hambantota seaport Udamathtaala airport
and Siribopura residential area.
The five storeyed adminstration complex funded by the government of
Korea is nearing completion. All State sector institutions scattered all
over Hambantota will be relocated here.
The administration complex at Siribopura consists of an urban council
building, library, minor employees housing scheme and housing scheme for
various officials etc.
