Crack down on reckless bus drivers

The Transport Ministry yesterday called upon the SLTB and private bus commuters to extend their co-operation to crack down on reckless bus drivers. This follows an incident that took place last week in the Slave Island Police Division where two private bus drivers had driven at high speed towards the same direction to pick up passengers.

One bus was taken into custody by the Police on information given by a passenger.

Transport Minister Kumara Welgama said that reckless driving can be stopped only with the assistance of the public who should make complaints on errant bus drivers to the nearest police station or any other law enforcement officer.
