14-day ultimatum to remove billboards

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has given a 14-day ultimatum to remove over 200 unauthorised billboards and hoardings in the Colombo city and also on private lands in the city, Colombo Municipal Council Special Commissioner Omar Kamil said, yesterday.

According to the notice issued by the Municipal Commissioner, Bhadrani Jayawardane all government, semi-government, private institutions, organisations and individuals have been asked to remove all unauthorised advertisements and hoardings on roads, road reservations, private lands and buildings within 14 days.

The Special Commissioner said that notice has been issued to remove unauthorised advertisements in a bid to maintain uniformity in having advertisements within the city. RW
