25,000 projects under Gama Neguma

The 'Gama Neguma' project, conducted under the Economic Development Ministry has completed nearly 11,200 rural projects this year. "The ministry intends to implement another 14,000 projects within this year. Our target was to complete 25,000 rural development projects under 'Gama Neguma'", said R.A.A.K. Ranawaka, Additional Secretary, Rural Economic Development of the Economic Development Ministry.

Under the directives of Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa Rs. 11,000 million was allocated for rural development projects under 'Gama Neguma' in 2010. The Economic Development Ministry will be revising the present structure of the 'Gama Neguma' (Village Uplift) project to change it to suit the new developments in the country.
