He said that the key objective of SLID this year is to spread the
message of corporate governance which has become increasingly important
in a rapidly changing global business environment.
"The SLID will take the message of good governance to corporates in
the North and the East and help organisations to adhere to values of
good governance", Peiris said.
SLID has been in the forefront of instilling values of good
governance among corporates since its inauguration 11 years ago. The
organisation has around 500 members.
"The standard of corporate governance in Sri Lanka is quite high.
SLID has facilitated the improvement of good governance and will further
entrench values among corporates in the country", Peiris said.
SLID hopes to make its constitution more corporate friendly and
present it to members for approval within the next three months.
Vice President, SLID, Pravir Samarasinghe said good governance has
been the cornerstone of SLID which has enriched good practices since its
inception. "We hope to further consolidate it with training and
awareness programs".
SLID launched its new logo depicting its vision for good governance
and to build businesses.
The new council of four will support members to face complex
challenges and drive businesses.
SLID provides members the much needed support network in times of
crisis and a forum to meet and exchange ideas.
The institute conducts seminars, discussions, workshops and training
programs to transfer knowledge to members.
