Trail - the walk for cancer, July 1-28

Cancer is one of the most feared diseases in our society. Today at
least one person in our families are facing this dreadful disease.
These patients need love and care at all times.

MAS Holdings is sponsoring The Trail - a project, to raise two
million dollars to build a cancer ward at the Jaffna National Hospital.
The project is initiated by the Colours of Courage Trust .
The Trail is a 670 km walk from the southern point of Dondra to the
Nothern tip of the island, Point Pedro. The walk will start on July 1
and conclude on July 28, said Group Director MAS Holdings Dian Gomes.
By choosing to walk, you are pledging to raise a specific amount of
money. However, if you'd rather not walk, you are still welcome to make
a donation.
The walkers will be walking 25km per day. Rs 40 million has already
been raised. Rs 5 million was donated by boxer Manju wanniarachchi.
Joining the event as brand ambassadors are sporting personalities-Sri
Lankan cricket captain T.M. Dilshan, former captain Mahela Jayawardena,
cricketers Angelo Mathews and Malinga Bandara and athletes Damayanthi
Darsha, said Gomes.
Each day, on all 27 days, 20 people will join the walk with the
walkers. Sri Lanka has 60 boxing clubs islandwide and each day 10 people
will be joining the walk from each club.
