Concert to rekindle togetherness

'Share the Love', a concert to promote peace, rebuilding and
solidarity organised by the Sadaham Sevana Trust will be held at Waters
Edge, Colombo on July 04 at 7.30 p.m. under the patronage of First Lady
Shiranthi Rajapaksa.
The concert has been organised with the aim of rekindling the spirit
of togetherness. The proceeds of the concert will be used to assist the
displaced children in the North and the East to enable them to pursue
their educational activities, JHU Parliamentarian Ven. Athuraliye
Rathana thera told the Sunday Observer yesterday.
He said 10 prominent Korean musicians and artistes and a few
outstanding Sri Lankan artistes such as Victor Ratnayake, Amarasiri
Peiris, Deepika Priyadharshani Peiris and Dinesh Subasinghe will perform
at the show, Veteran musician Pandith W. D. Amaradewa will grace the
occasion.
The organisers of the concert hope to further strengthen relations
between Sinhala and Tamil people. It would also help develop cultural
ties internationally and create a close rapport between Sri Lankan
artistes and their counterparts in various other countries. The Sadaham
Sevana Trust has also decided to hold the concert in several foreign
countries such as Italy, Germany, Japan and Korea to raise funds to
assist displaced children, the ven. thera said.
Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa will participate as a special
guest. All foreign ambassadors in Sri Lanka and the Heads of the
cultural sections of embassies have also been invited. Nearly 1500
patrons are expected to attend the show. Tickets are available at
Sarasavi Book Shop, Nugegoda and M Entertainment, Colombo.
