Old Thomians C.C., Matara division three champions

CRICKET: Old Thomians Cricket Club, Matara won the All-Island Inter-Club division three cricket tournament when they beat Marians Cricket Club, Kegalle by 8 wickets in the final at the Surrey Village Cricket Ground, Maggona on June 12. Marians C.C. who batted first, made 162 runs in 44 overs and Old Thomians C.C. skipper Isuru Lokuge (72 not out) and Amila Vitharana (59) helped them to make 163 for 2 wickets to help them to a easy eight-wicket win.

Old Thomians Cricket Club, Matara have been unbeaten throughout the tournament. They beat Prisons S.C., Matara, Old Servatius S.C. Matara, Sports S.C. Matara, Moneragala S.C., Kandukara C.C., Moneragala, Old Uvites S.C., Badulla.

In the quarter-finals, Old Thomians S.C., Sportec S.C., Matara again and Bloomfield, Colombo in the semi-finals.

Old Marians C.C.: 162 in 44 overs (Dilka Panagoda 43, J. Seneviratne 31, S. Ekanayake 21, Kaveen Galdeniya 21; Nipun Ranaweera 4 for 43, Prasanna Jayasekera 2 for 20, Ashan Ranasinghe 2 for 34.)

Old Thomians C.C.: 163 for 2 wkts in 32.4 overs (Isuru Lokuge 72 not out, Amila Vitharana 59; R. Guruge 2 for 8).
