GOLF: A big turn out of participants is expected at the June monthly
medal golf championship of Victoria Golf and Country Resort which will
be worked off at the beautiful Victoria Golf Course at Rajawella off
Kandy today - (Sunday June 26) with the first tee off at the 7.30 a.m.
The award winning Victoria golf course which is the pride of the hill
capital is in excellent condition with the course itself resembling a
billiard top. But it has been made challenging and tricky by the course
staff headed by the Course Manager Maheel Bulumulla who will be retiring
at the end of this month before taking wings to Dubai to join his
family.
Maheel Bulumulla is an experienced official with over thirty years
experience in the management of grass with training in Australia and New
Zealand. His efforts in the Victoria golf course has been this golf
course win the award for the Best Golf Course in the Sub Continent three
times besides finishing runner up on many occasions. This golf course
was opened only in 1998 and during its 13 year old existence, Bulumulla
has been a part of it for ten years.
This golf championship will be played for the best Net and Gross
scores for ladies and gentlemen and besides there will be two divisions
for high and low handicappers for men.
Victoria region has been experiencing very little rain these days and
the course should be tough to come to terms with the ball coming fast
off the rough.
