Matale District Central Province hockey champs

Matale District became Central Province Men's Hockey Champions when they defeated Kandy District by the big margin of 8 goals to nil in their Central Province Inter-District Hockey Tournament match, organised by the Ministry of Sports of the Central Province and played at the Nandimithra International Hockey Stadium, Matale yesterday. At half time Matale led 4-0.

Goal scores for Matale District were right inside Tarnish Cramer (3) left in side Dhammika Abayratne (2), fullback Prasanna Abeyweera (1), right extreme Keerthi Kumara (1) centre half D.T. Panditharatne (1).

Mangala Karunaratne and S.N. Wijesinghe umpired.
