HNB launches Ran Govi Saviya

As a part of its innovative initiatives to develop the farming
community in Sri Lanka, HNB recently launched a loan scheme - Ran Govi
Saviya in Tissamaharama, targeting the agricultural sector.
Finance will be provided to farmers by way of loans in exchange for
gold.
The loans will be backed by an interest subsidy from the Central Bank
of Sri Lanka under the New Comprehensive Rural Credit Scheme.
Zimmer wins Best Supplier Award

Zimmer (Pte).Ltd., Singapore, the Asia Corporate office of Zimmer
Inc., of USA, won the award for the Best Supplier Surgical (DHS) at the
recently concluded Suppliers’s Convention of the State Pharmaceuticals
Corporation of Sri Lanka.
Zimmer is a world leader in orthopaedics, founded in 1927 and
headquartered in Warsaw, Indiana USA. Zimmer designs, develops,
manufactures and markets orthopaedic reconstructive, spinal and trauma
devices, dental implants, and related surgical products.
Zimmer has operations in over 25 countries and sells products in more
than 100 countries.
AAA, CandleAid set up school library
CandleAid along with the American Alumni Association (AAA) of Sri
Lanka recently embarked on a project to support the Osuvinna Secondary
School, Tissamaharama in the Hambantota district.
The school was in dire need of a library and CandleAid stepped in
with the support of the (AAA)to provide the school with books for the
library, cabinets and computers.
Munchee bags nine Presidential Awards

HerePresident Mahinda Rajapaksa hands over the Exporter of the Year
Gold Award to Chairman Ceylon Biscuits Limited Mineka Wickramasingha,
Deputy Chairman Ramya Wickramasingha, and General Manager Exports Jude
Rubera. Munchee biscuits - the flagship brand of Ceylon Biscuits Limited
(CBL), the leading conglomerate in the manufacture of confectioneries
and bakery items - won nine awards, including the Exporter of the Year
Award at the Presidential Awards for Exports held recently at Temple
Trees.
The Outstanding Exporter of the Year Award for all three years -
2007,2008 and 2009 - was won by CBL, which is an unprecedented
achievement for the company. In addition to these three awards, CBL also
won the awards for Most Outstanding Brand Exporter and Most Outstanding
Exporter-Confectionery and Bakery items.
AVIVA NDB leads with highest number of IQA qualifiers
In a rare demonstration of collective excellence and passion for
customer care, 20 AVIVA NDB Wealth Planners, the highest number from Sri
Lanka for 2010, have qualified for the globally recognised International
Quality Award (IQA) from LIMRA, USA. IQA, established to promote quality
selling in the Life insurance profession across the world is one of the
most sought-after awards in the insurance industry.
Court of Appeal goes online
The Court of Appeal will go online and introduce technological
advancements including an electronic case filing and management system.

project was launched recently at the Superior Court Complex chaired by
the President Court of Appeal Sathyaa Hettige.
Logiwiz wins SLSI merit award for business excellence
Logiwiz, a 3rd Party Logistics (3PL) service provider, was recognised
for business excellence at the Sri Lanka Standards Institution’s (SLSI)
National Quality Awards at the BMICH recently. Logiwiz was awarded the
merit certificate in the Medium Sector Service category.
The award represents the culmination of Logiwiz’s increased focus in
conforming to international quality standards. In 2009, Logiwiz received
the ISO 9001:2008 and OHSAS 18001:2007 certifications.
Subsequently, in the same year Logiwiz received the gold award under
the Transport and Logistics Category at the National Business Excellence
Awards hosted by the National Chamber of Commerce.
BFN lists on CSE main board
Bartleet Finance (BFN)was listed on the main board of the CSE
recently.
The CSE on June 30approved the introduction of 2,040,000 Rated
Unsecured Redeemable Debentures (2011/2016) of Rs. 100 each at 13
percent interest per annum payable monthly. The listing on the CSE

centre with the most modern communication technology equipped with a
toll free number for the convenience of customers recently.
The centre, will be geared to handle all insurance related queries
promptly and efficiently and can be contacted toll free through a
dialog, SLT, Lanka Bell or a Suntel network by dialing the service
provider’s fixed line code immediately before the SLI Customer Care
Number 357357.
