December 2004 put a stop to cricket for two years, but the determined
Lasith Chaminda didn't give up coach, but kept to his job and he was
recalled to be the District Coach of Galle in December 2006, having
coached Mahinda College in 2005. Lasith passed his level II coaching

performances. Romesh Buddhika, Denuwan Rajapakse and Kaushalya
Gajasinghe are cricketers of repute who were coached by him in their
junior days. Sri Lanka's ace paceman Lasith Malinga who joined Mahinda
College u 19 team earlier was also coached by Lasith Chaminda as both
were pace bowlers, though Chaminda was a left-armer.
