Kandy Girls High tops the table

Girls High School, Kandy, excelled at the team games for schools in the Central Province by winning several championship titles in the tournaments organised by the Department of Education of the Central Province and worked off in Kandy.

Girls High School, Kandy dominated the team championship in several sports by winning the championship titles for under-15, under1-17, under-19 netball to make a clean sweep.

They became under-19 champions at volleyball for girls. They also became overall champions at table tennis and carrom.

A point of interest is that Galewela Central College, Galewala a rural school won the cricket championship for girls.

Volleyball - Under-15 boys champions: Udispattuwa MMV, runners-up Jinaraja Vidyalaya, Gampola.

Under-15 girls champions: Gonapelessa Vidyalaya, runners-up Kolongoda Vidyalaya, Teldeniya.

Under-17 boys champions: St. Mary's College, Nawalapitiya, runners-up Peradeniya MMV.

Under-19 boys champions: A. Ratnayake Central College, Wallala, runners-up Peradeniya MMV.

Under-19 girls champions: Girls High School, Kandy, runner-up Seetha Devi BV, Kandy.

Netball - Under-15 champions: Girls High School, Kandy, runner-up Hillwood College, Kandy.

Under-17 champions: Girls High School, Kandy. runner-up Hillwood College, Kandy.

Under-19 champions: Girls High School, Kandy, runners-up Swarnamali Girls College, Kandy.

Cricket - Under-19 boys champions: St. Thomas' College, Matale, runners-up Ragala Tamil School, Ragala.

Under-19 girls champions: Galewela Central College, runners-up Wattegama Balika Maha Vidyalaya.

Kabadi - Under-19 girls champions: Harangala MV, Nawalapitiya, runners-up Kaldeniya MV.

Under-19 boys: Harangala MV, Nawalapitiya, runners-up Kolongoda MV, Teldeniya.

Elle - Under-19 girls champions: Hatthota Anura Vidyalaya, runners-up Hulgama MV.

Under-19 boys champions: Haloya MV, runenrs-up Hattota Anura Vidyalaya.
