Ferry service from Magampura Port mulled

The Indian Consulate in Hambantota will explore the possibility of
commencing a passenger ferry service between India and Sri Lanka using
the Ruhunu Magampura Port in Hambantota.
Consul General of India K. N. Mohankumara told the Sunday Observer
that they are issuing over 100 visas per month for residents in
Hambantota to travel to India. This shows, India's interest in the South
and this was the reason that we are looking at this aspect positively,
he said.
He said that 90 percent of the visas were issued for pilgrims, adding
that they were awaiting infrastructure facilities being improved.
