Dev Anand and Navy creep into second place in both contests

Rugby: (Observer/Caltex Most Popular Rugby Player/ Team Competition 2011: There were a few changes in the 6th week’s count of the Sunday Observer Caltex Most Popular Rugger Player and Most Popular Rugger Team competition as Navy’s drop-kick specialist Dev Anand and his team were elevated to the number two position.

Dev Anand polled 10,104 votes and Navy SC received 9,081 votes to secure the second place behind Kandy SC. The former Sri Lanka captain fly-half Fazil Marija is still perched on top with a substantial lead while the gap between Dev Anand and Number 8. Dushan Lewke who has dropped to number three from Number two, is only 232 votes.

Winger Sanjeeva Jayasinghe who is also a past winner of the contest, although placed in the 7th position should climb up with more support from his numerous supporters, specially from the Hill Capital crowd in the race to reach the top. In the team competition, Kandy Sports Club is well ahead with 15,019 votes to Navy’s 9,081 votes.
