Dharmaraja College felicitates outstanding cricketers

CRICKET: Dharmaraja College, Kandy held the school cricket award
ceremony to felicitate cricketers who have done well in the past season
in the under-15 to under-19 categories.
Special award was presented to the 1st XI cricket team of Dharmaraja
who under the captaincy of Nemal Munaweera beat Kingswood College in
their annual 'Big Match' after 30 years.
The chief guest at the occasion was Chapa Weeraratne - a leading
businessman, an old boy who represented the school from 1982 to 1984. He
also led the Kelaniya University cricket team.
D.M. Dharmathilake who played for Dharmaraja cricket team in 1950-51
and led the hockey team who is the President of the Olcott Cricket
Foundation, delivered the keynote address.
Dharmathilake recalled the deeds of several of Rajan cricketers who
have brought honour to the school. There was Sonny Yatawara, S.P.
Situnayake, T.B. Kehelgamuwa, Chamara Kapugedera, T.B. Talwatte, Arthur
Alwis, N.K.B. Angammana, Ananda Jayasundera, Ajith Narampanawa, Asanga
Marapana, Mahinda Pethiyagoda, Senaka Dissanayake and Ananda
Jayasundera.
The award Winners: Under-13 (Best Bowler R. Pupulewatte, Best
Batsman: D. Gunasinghe, Best Allrounder: S. Siyambalapitiya.
Under-15: (Best Bowler - W. Galahitiyawa, Best Batsman - R.
Ranasinghe), Best Allrounder - Deneth Lanka).
Under-17: Best Bowler: A. Vithanarachchi, Best Batsman: S.
Gunasekera, Best Allrounder: M. Karunaratne.
Under-19: Best Bowler: A. Vithanarachchi, Best Batsman, S. Gunasekera
Best Allrounder - L. Herath.
