Airwoman Nimali sets up new record

ATHLETICS: Airwoman L. K. Nimali set up a new Sri Lanka record on the opening day of the 29th women's athletic national championships which commenced at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Diyagama yesterday.

Nimali established her record by clocking 10.31.24 seconds in the women's 3000 metres steeple chase event that shattered the previous best of 10.37.57 seconds held by W. P.R. Dilrukshi.
