Vidyaratana U.C. Horana wins Jayaweera Memorial Boxing Meet

BOXING : A hitherto unknown quality – Vidyaratana University College,
Moratuwa, won the L.V. Jayaweera Memorial Trophy with 24 points at the
Annual L.V. Jayaweera Memorial Boxing Championship at Ranabima Royal
College Hall last week. Seevali Vidyalaya, Ratnapura were runners-up
with 21 points and Sri Sumangala, Panadura were third with 19 points.
Ranabima Royal College boxer S.R. Atapattu was picked as the best boxer
and V.G.S.L. Abeyratne of St. John’s Nugegoda was the the best loser.
The meet was held for the 39th year and there were 236 boxers from 56
schools who participated in the meet.
