NCCSL training for SME businessmen

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), the premier
institution for industrial development has launched a professional
training program for SME sector entrepreneurs in the country.
The NCCSL will conduct the certificate course in Entrepreneurship
Management (CIEM) in collaboration with the Institute of Human Resource
Advancement of the University of Colombo.
NCCSL Secretary, Sujeiva Samaraweera said the program is designed for
the present and potential owners, managers and employees of SME sector
to enhance the knowledge and skills of entrepreneurship and management.
Samaraweera said the program will help entrepreneurs to develop
business management skills and expand and diversify their enterprises.
The SME sector entrepreneurs will transform their businesses into
medium scale and then onto large scale enterprises.
The four month program conducted at the University will comprise
business ethics, team building, business opportunities, accounting needs
of SMEs, finance, marketing, project management, leadership,
communications skills and commercial law.
Samaraweera said that the program is specially designed for
provincial and district level SME entrepreneurs to develop their
business management skills.The Chamber will introduce diploma and degree
programs for those who succeed in the certificate program.The first
batch of 50 will begin the course next month.
