CYCLING: Ujitha Sanjaya Lokubandara - MP for Badulla District has
been appointed as President of the Veterans Cycling Association.
While Lokubandara has accepted his new office, arrangements have been
finalised for the medal awards ceremony of the veterans cyclists and
winners of the Road Race to be held mid-September at Viharamahadevi
Park. According to Anthony Symons - General Secretary of the Veterans
Cycling Association, all veteran cyclists will be awarded medals donated
by Anthony Alexander - Vice-President, a former veteran cyclist.
On the same day events will be held for veterans and standard racing
events around Viharamahadevi Park (five rounds) for over 50 years and
over 60 years of age.
Special medals will be presented to veterans who have contributed to
the sport.
