Ghare Baire is one of the most telling statements on women’s
empowerment. Encouraged by her Bengali noble husband Nikhil, Bimala
takes her first step to emancipation, only to fall for the hypocritical,
but charismatic nationalist leader Sandip. It features Victor Banerjee,
Jenifer Kendal and Soumitra Chatterjee.
Agantuk was Satyajit Ray's last film, and it is based on one of his
short stories, Atithi (The Guest). It features Utpal Dutt and Mamta
Shanker.
Rabindranath Tagore (Documentary in English) – Made by Stayajit Ray
in 1961 to celebrate Tagore’s birth Centenary, this dramatized
documentary features some deft cinematic touches of a master filmmaker
that sets it apart from most biographical
Charulatha - Based upon the novella Nastanirh ("The Broken Nest") by
Rabindranath Tagore. It features Soumitra Chatterjee, Madhabi Mukherjee
and Sailen Mukherjee.
