CRICKET: A school that has taken to cricket recently is Lexicon
International School, Kandy. A former principal of Dharmaraja College,
Kandy and Ananda College, Colombo T.B. Dammunupola who is now the Chief
Administrator of Lexicon International School, wasted no time in getting
his boys interested in the game of cricket.
There are three teams - under-17, under-15 and under-11 are keen as
mustard to make progress in cricket at Lexicon International. so far the
under-17 team has won two matches, I.e. against Kandy Cricket Academy
and D.S. Senanayake Vidyalaya, Kandy with Shamith Amanulla as captain at
the Governor's Trophy under-17 Invitation Cricket. The under-15 team has
not yet started playing matches, but the under-11 team is fielding two
sides - 'A' and 'B'. The 'A' team registered their first win against
Kandy Cricket Academy at the T20 match.
It was a softball match, but it was played to give the boys a 'hang
about the game'. The school will start the hard ball game for the
under-11 soon. The match played at the Mahaiyawa M.C. Grounds. Lexicon
under-11 team scored 80 for eight wickets in 20 overs and Kandy Cricket
Academy (under-11) made 51 all out in 15.2 overs.

All keen and eager... The young Lexicon International, Kandy
under-11 team from Kandy are fast catching up on the game
and should be a force to reckon with in the future. From
