Rs 65,890 m allocated to expedite projects

The Economic Development Ministry has allocated the biggest sum ever
to the tune of Rs. 65,890 million this year to expedite various
development projects, Deputy Economic Development Minister Lakshman Yapa
Abeywardane said.
The Ministry has allocated funds for 20 districts covering 13,101
Grama Niladari divisions to expedite half completed development
projects.
A sum of Rs. 3,863 million for Divi Neguma, Rs. 3,250 m. for
Samurdhi, Rs. 10,284 m for Gama Neguma and Rs. 39,171.6 m to carpet
roads have been allocated by the Ministry. Further some of Rs. 1,257.8 m
Gemi Diriya project, Rs. 3,614.4 m for Yali Pubudamu Sri Lanka, Rs. 905
m for the decentralised budget, Rs. 0.282 m for Dhaksina Development
Authority and Rs. 300 m for the Udarata Development Authority has been
allocated.
Meanwhile the Ministry has allocated a sum of Rs. 770.9 million for
for regional development projects, Rs. 100 million for estate road
development projects, Rs. 2,128.3 million for foreign funded projects,
and Rs. 187.3 million for Neganahira Navodhaya program have been
allocated.
Sufficient funds have been allocated to develop 1,860 schools in the
20 districts and Rs. 2,524.9 million has been allocated to construct
toilets in schools.
Rupees 2,019.4 million has been allocated to develop maternity wards
and Rs. 3039.6 million has been allocated for irrigation, rural road
development, electricity and drinking water projects, the Minister said.
