Singer revitalises Lunawa Hospital
Singer recently commenced maintenance work on the Lunawa Hospital's
Male Ward. The current work is part of the company's ongoing support of
the hospital, which began with a renovation of the ward, three years ago
which also included an employee-led clean-up initiative that has helped
transform the hospital.
Today, patients at the hospital receive a new and improved level of
healthcare, due to the efforts of Singer Sri Lanka. Singer's decision to
support the Lunawa Hospital was taken after an analysis of the
conditions there and an assessment of how the company could most
effectively leverage its resources to maximise its beneficial impact on
the region's healthcare needs.

ComBank, the only Sri Lankan bank in World's Top 1,000
Sri Lanka is once again represented in the top 1,000 banks in the
world, with the inclusion of the Commercial Bank of Ceylon to this
prestigious annual ranking by the UK based The Banker magazine.
Commercial Bank is the only Sri Lankan Bank in this ranking by the
premier magazine serving the world's investment, retail and commercial
banking sectors.
Commercial Bank has been ranked 52nd in the world in the Performance
category (assessed on profits on average capital) and 986th on Tier 1
capital, the criterion widely accepted as the most important benchmark
for assessing the financial stability of a bank, in the publication's
July 2011 issue.

CICRA's corporate IT Security seminar on Sept 27
A corporate IT security seminar and workshop will be held on
September 27, in Colombo, organised by CICRA Institute of Education
(Pvt) Ltd. "It is reported that thousands of systems are being attacked
around the world daily.

Renuka Holdings in Forbes Asia‘s “Best under $ one B
Renuka Holdings PLC was one of the four Sri Lankan companies selected
by Forbes Asia for being the “Best under $ Billion”.
Forbes Asia’s “Best under a Billion” companies are Asia Pacific’s
top, small and mid-size listed companies. According to Forbes, the
criteria of selection included profitability, growth, modest
indebtedness and future prospects.
Forbes editors picked 200 companies out of a universe of over 15,000
Asia Pacific companies with actively traded shares and sales between $5
m and $1 b.
Health benefits for Central Finance Loyalty Card holders
Central Finance Co Ltd (CF), joined hands with the Asiri Group of
Hospitals to offer a range of services and treatment at a discounted
rate to CF Loyalty Card holders. CF has introduced a Loyalty card to

NITF covers SLPA staff insurance

The National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF) will cover the
insurance aspects of the SLPA staff. Two staffers of the
NITF will be entrusted to handle the Health Insurance Scheme

SLT launches Rainbow pages Tourist Directory
Rainbow Pages, and Sri Lanka Tourism recently
launched a Tourist Directory to cater to the increasing tourist
market.
To fulfill the information needs of tourists, SLT
Rainbow Pages and Sri Lanka Tourism joined hands to publish a
comprehensive tourist directory for leisure and business.
In many parts of the world, such comprehensive
directories are available in hotel rooms as a value addition for the
tourist industry.
Sri Lanka makes record improvement in
competitiveness ranking

Sri Lanka has made remarkable improvement in the
Global Competitiveness Ranking of the World Economic Forum over the
past three years from 79 in 2009/10, 62 in 2010/11 to 52 in 2011/12.
The current ranking is out of 142 countries, said the Ceylon Chamber
of Commerce (CCC).
The progress in infrastructure development has
improved our ranking in infrastructure from 70 last year to 60 this
year. Inadequate infrastructure has been identified by the private
sector as the third important impediment to doing business in Sri
Lanka in the 2006/07 Global Competitiveness Report but today the
significance of this barrier has been pushed down to 8th place.

People’s Bank concludes $ 150 m syndicated loan
facility
The People’s Bank concluded a syndicated loan
facility for $150m. The facility was originally arranged for $ 50 m,
however since it was significantly oversubscribed, the deal was
upsized to $150m. Over 10 European, Middle Eastern and Asian banks
participated in the transaction reaffirming the strength and
stability of People’s Bank.
This was the first time that People’s Bank tapped
international markets and this milestone was reached while
celebrating the Bank’s 50th year of operations.
Sampath Bank opens five branches in one day

Nestlé Lanka receives highest number of awards
Nestlé Lanka, won the highest number of awards at
the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries’ (CNCI) “Achievers of
Industrial Excellence” Awards 2011. A first time applicant, Nestlé
was the only multinational company to be awarded three top awards in
recognition of its industrial excellence and contribution towards
the progress of market, industry and the nation at large - at
national and provincial levels. Managing Director Nestlé Lanka PLC
Alois Hofbauer accepts the award from Central Bank Governor Ajith
