Largest consignment of cigarettes detected

Sri Lanka Customs seized a consignment of 5.7 million cigarettes
valued at Rs. 120 million smuggled into Sri Lanka in a 40-foot
container.
The cargo forfeited by the Customs last Friday is the largest
consignment detected this year according to Superintendent of Customs
J.A.S. Jayakody of the Central Intelligence Division of the Sri Lanka
Customs.The Central Intelligence Division seized the consignment at the
Orugodawatta container terminal.
The consignment has arrived from Dubai, and when we checked the
details we found it was fake and there was no company by that name, he
said.
