Professionals to help develop Kandy MC

A committee of professionals will be appointed to advise the Kandy Municipal Council on the implementation of development priorities of the UPFA administration, said Sena Dissanayake UPFA candidate and group leader for the Kandy MC Election, in an interview with the Sunday Observer.

Q: You have been an opposition ward member in the Kandy Municipal Council for the last 28 years. Have you got any proposals to develop Kandy under the UPFA administration?

A: The Kandy MC which is one of the oldest bodies, needs an efficient and honest group of councillors to run the city.

The prime responsibility of the MC is to improve sanitary conditions of the city which is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It has to be developed as an environmentally friendly city. A future UPFA led Kandy MC will help to achieve this. A committee of professionals will be appointed to advise the council on the implementation of development priorities.

Q: Kandy does not have a well equipped auditorium. The D.S. Senanayake library which was damaged by fire has to be renovated. What is the present position?

A: President Mahinda Rajapaksa has pledged his assistance to renovate the library. We will also putup a fully fledged auditorium in the city.

Q: Corruption and waste have become an evil to the country. Would you like to comment?

A: The people want a transparent and an efficient city administration.

As a politician moving with the masses for the last three decades I respect their views my experiences with the SLFP during the last three decades will immensely help me to implement policies for the betterment of the masses. We will work as a srong team to ensure a UPFA victory.
