No interruption to delivery of O/L admission cards

The Central Mail Exchange trade union has decided to deliver admission cards to GCE (O/L) candidates without any interruption despite the ongoing strike.

This follows a request by Postal Services Minister Jeevan Kumaratunga last Friday. Previous discussions with trade unions ended in failure. On the instructions of Minister Kumaratunga, Ministry Secretary Hemasiri Fernando held discussions with the unions.

Meanwhile, Secretary Fernando has instructed officials of the Postal Department to prepare a special program in consultation with the Commissioner General of Examinations. He has instructed officials to take steps to send salaries and pension letters to recipients immediately in view of the forthcoming festive season.
