Lankan diplomat in Ex - Co of London Consular Corps
Diplomat Chaminda Kularatne, Minister Counsellor handling consular
affairs and Immigration at Sri Lanka’s High Commission in London was
recently elected to the executive committee of the Corps together with
diplomats from Cyprus, Belgium, Seychells and Latvia.
Kularatne’s appointment is for three years and first Asian diplomat
to hold this position after five years. It is the first time that a Sri
Lankan diplomat has been appointed to this committee.
Kularatne, an Attorney-at-Law, obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in
Business Management from the University of Colombo.
He is currently reading for his MBA at the Kingston University,
London. He was the Senior Assistant Secretary to the President prior to
his posting to London as a diplomat. He has served as a member of the
Director Board of the Bank of Ceylon and was Coordinating Secretary to
the Minister of Finance and Planning.
The Consular Corps of London, established in 1902, is a prestigious
association of diplomatic officers handling consular affairs at the
diplomatic missions and honorary consulates based in London.
