Charles Robinson Memorial Hockey Sevens Nov. 20 at Police Park

HOCKEY: The 14th annual ‘Charles Robinson Memorial’ All-Island Inter-Club seven-a-side hockey championships will be held on November 20 at Police Park.

This year too, the tournament will be conducted by Matale Old Thomians’ Association – Colombo Branch.

There are 18 teams that have entered for the tournament and they have been divided into four groups.

Group ‘A’: Sri Lanka Air Force, Old Christ Church, Sri Lanka Navy, Old Zahirians S.C., Kotelawela Defence Academy.

Group ‘B’: Sri Lanka Police, Park S.C., Colts C.C., Old Vijaians S.C.

Group ‘C’: CH and FC., Matale Old Thomians, D.S. Senanayake S.C., Old Nalandians S.C.

Group ‘D’: Sri Lanka Army, B.R.C., Wennappuwa S.C., Old Anandians’ S.C., Old Bens S.C.

* There is a change in the rules. Not more than three defenders in the goal line instead of four for penalty corners.

There are attractive cash and valuable trophies to be awarded at the tournament.

Winner: Cash prize of Rs. 20,000, a challenge trophy, gift of replica and individual awards, For the first runner-up: Cash award of Rs. 15,000, a Challenge Trophy, gift of replica and individual awards and for the Second runner-up: Cash award of Rs. 10,000 challenge trophy, gift of replica and individual awards.
