The BRAVE HEARTS project of the Seva Vanitha Unit of the Sri Lanka
Army commenced construction of the second Abhimansala which will be home
for 48 totally disabled war veterans at a picturesque location in
Wilpita on Thursday. Commander of the Army Major General Jagath
Jayasuriya was the chief guest at the ceremony.
It is traumatic if one is not able to attend to his or her daily
needs without assistance.
Specially things which he or she had been attending to before being
incapacitated. Put yourself in such a situation and your imagination
will answer for itself.
There will be a time that you will be a burden and a nuisance to
those living with you. And that is what would happen to all those heroes
in the Sri Lanka Army who were totally disabled during the seperatist
war in Sri Lanka.
To permit these brave soldiers to lead a life of dignity without
being a burden to their loved ones the Seva Vanitha Unit came up with
this project.
The Suwa Sevana Abhimansala in Wilpita will comprise seven Villas and
five cottage units, dormetries, medical facilities, a swimming pool, a
library and many other necessities.
The complex will cost a sum of rupees 225 million and will be
completed by August this year.
The Seva Vanitha Unit with Manjulika Jayasuriya as its chair person
has succeeded in getting institutions as well as individuals to sponsor
the construction of all the buildings. The foundation stones for these
units were laid simultaneously today by the respective donors.
Well-wishers can contribute financially to the BRAVE HEARTS FUND A/c
9846026 at Bank of Ceylon Lake House Branch. Contributions will be
exempted from income tax. Shouldn't we ensure that those who risked
their lives and limbs to let us live in peace and harmony to live in
dignity at least?
