History:

1. The Incas were a people who lived in the Andes mountains of South America which is part of Peru today. From early 15th century to early 16th century AD they ruled a mighty empire.

2. Mayan palaces were made of great slabs of stone covered with plaster. They were decorated with pictures of gods and kings.

They were built almost like the Mayan temples except that they were painted red most often.

3. Aztecs were wandering hunters who arrived in Mexico about AD 1200. They fought with the people already living in the area. Afterwards they built a huge city on an island in a marshy lake. They grew rich and strong.

4. Chocolate - Can you resist it? Do you know that it was introduced to us by Aztec cooks? It is said that they made a fruity chocolate drink from ground-up cocoa beans and honey, flavoured with spices. The Aztecs named the drink ‘Xocoatl’.

5. They were conquered by the Spanish soldiers who arrived in Anaeva in the early 16th century in search of gold.
