President opens Deyata Kirula exhibition

President
Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday opened the sixth Deyata Kirula national
exhibition at Oyamaduwa in the Maha Villachchiya Divisional Secretariat
in Anuradhapura. It will be open to the public till February 10. The
exhibition site is on a 600-acre land.
The exhibition consists of over 1,000 stalls run by government
ministries, private sector agencies and the Security Forces. The ANCL
(Lake House) stall at the Deyata Kirula will educate the public on its
publishing operations and its national role in keeping the public
informed of all developments in Sri Lanka and around the world.
Admission to the Deyata Kirula is free for schoolchildren in uniform
and teachers. Others should buy a Rs 20 Development Lottery ticket.
Each visitor to the exhibition is insured for one million rupees. The
exhibition hours are 8 am. to 12 midnight daily.
Development projects worth over Rs. 25,000 million have also been
launched to mark the Deyata Kirula 2012 program. Work on the Jaffna
expressway is also slated to begin parallel to the Deyata Kirula.
Police set up several stalls at the Deyata Kirula exhibition premises
for the benefit of the public.
The stall which demonstrates how the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)
operates in the Colombo City to nab criminals and how the Police
Environmental Division inspects unhygienic premises to prevent the
spread of Dengue mosquitoes is expected to draw large crowds.
The other stalls include the Community Policing unit where the public
is trained how to interact with the police to prevent crime in their
areas.
Information Technology (IT), the Narcotics Division and the
Fingerprints Unit and Traffic police and the police Recruitment Division
will provide valuable information to visitors at the exhibition. |
