Ven. Kevitiyagala Jenasiri Thera appointed Uppa Pradhana

Siddhartha Sumangala Thera of the Malwatte Chapter of Mahavihara
Vanshika Shamopali Mahanikaya appointed Ven. Kevitiyagala Jenasiri Thera
as the Uppa Pradhana Sanghanayake of Kalutara District and Pasyodun
Korale. The Venerable Thera was conferred the honorary title of
Saddharma Kirthi Sri Vichichitra Bhanaka Jinananda, in recognition of
his outstanding talent as a master preacher.
Ven. Jenasiri Thera who is the Viharadhipathy of Sri Vimalaramaya of
the village of Katudora in Valalavita in Pasyodun Korale in the Kalutara
District, was born on July 27 in 1958 and entered into the Buddhist
Order on March 13, 1970 at Sri Abhinavaramaya of Aguluvita.
He obtained higher ordination in 1981 at Sri Mangala Oposhithagaraya
of Malwatu Viharaya. Since then, Ven. Thera has been serving the
Buddhist order and the masses in diverse capacities as a preceptor and a
popular preacher. He is famous for his exemplary sermons and as a master
preacher and also noted for his exceptional talents as an able organiser
and a leader of the Maha Sangha in the area.
He is also instrumental in transferring the village temple of Sri
Vimalaramaya into a fully-fledged sacred area.
In a felicitation message on the occasion of the appointment of Ven.
Kevitiyagala Jenasiri Thera as the Uppa Pradhana Sanghanayake of
Kalutara District and Pasyodun Korale and conferring the honorary title
Saddharma Kirthi Sri Vichichitra Bhanaka Jinnananda, President Mahinda
Rajapaksa stated "It was my great pleasure in issuing a message of
felicitation on the occasion of the venerable Thera's appointment.
Since the introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka, the people of the
land enriched their lives in following the doctrine of the Buddha. The
religious harmony commenced in the village developed into socio-economic
development. The people of Sri Lanka were blessed with the close
association of Maha Sangha centred around the village temple.
Ven. Kevitiyagala Jenasiri Thera, descendent of that noble lineage of
Maha Sangha, is rendering a commendable service to the people in a
manner enhancing the devotion of the Buddhist and earning their
veneration. ".
