Costa Rica calls at Colombo Port
The vessel Costa Victoria, a cruise ship owned and operated by Costa
Crociere, made its call at the Colombo harbour on Tuesday. The 292
metre-long, seven-storey vessel carrying 1,304 passengers was on its way
from the Maldives to Thailand, according to Sri Lanka Ports Authority
sources.
An official of the Ports Authority said that many cruise ships have
called at the Colombo Port and added that steps have been taken to
attract tourists to Sri Lanka through sea transportation.
The ship designed to reflect the spirit of Italy debuted in 1996 and
was refurbished in 2004. The panoramic Concorde Plaza, an indoor pool,
the ultramodern Pompei Spa, and the seven deck Planetarium Atrium are
some of the attractions of the cruise ship.
