SLIM, SLII to introduce diploma in Insurance Marketing
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Sri Lanka
Institute of Marketing (SLIM) and the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute
(SLII) to introduce a Diploma in Insurance Marketing for sales personnel
recently.
The course designed mainly for insurance sales personnel, has three
semesters and each stage will consist of marketing and insurance
subjects.
As the national body of marketing, SLIM recognises sales as an
integral part of marketing. The objective is to aid in developing sales
and sales professionals, especially in the insurance field.
"Marketing of insurance products should be carefully planned, so that
the information about certain insurance services would be easily
available to potential customers and make it appealing to his or her
requirements and also build confidence without overloading the customer
with information", CEO and Executive Director SLIM, Sanath Senanayake
said.
"For insurance business to prosper, the use of insurance marketing
strategies is vital. Not only is the successful implementation of these
strategies important but the selection of strategies too.
When choosing insurance marketing strategies, factors such as
budgets, advertising campaigns, the age of the target audience and
social status of potential customers has to be taken into account all of
which will be comprehensively covered by this course", he said.
President- SLIM, Thushara Perera, who is now the Immediate Past
President, Sanath Senanayake, exco member- SLIM, Charitha Jayasinghe,
AGM Operation and Education- SLIM,Samantha Ratnayake,President SLII,
Udeni Kiridena, Immediate Past President SLII, Deepthi Lokuarachchi,
Sanjiv Keerthiratne,Vice President SLII, Secretary SLII,Thusitha
Nandasiri and Representative of Marketing and Sales Forum of Insurance
Association of Sri Lanka, Lalith Fernando(who is also a council member
of SLII) were present at the signing of the MoU.
