New MD and COO at ComBank

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC has appointed Ravi Dias as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, and Jegan Durairatnam as Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer.

NCCSL meets Austrian delegation

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) will host a delegation of senior officials of the Austrian Government, headed by State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Dr.Wolfgang Waldner at the NCCSL on April 30.

The Austrian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Ferdinand Maultaschl and Commercial Counsellor based in New Delhi will also join the delegation. The visit is co-coordinated by the Ministry of External Affairs in Colombo. Members will get an opportunity for an interactive discussion with members of the Austrian delegation.

IATA top 10 South Asia Training Centre 2012

The International Airline Ticketing Academy has been selected and recognised by IATA as the "2012 South Asia top 10 IATA Authorised Training Centre". The CEO of the International Airline Ticketing Academy, Deepal Perera, said "It is indeed another prestigious award achieved during my 33 years in aviation in Sri Lanka and abroad".

He has been with IATA from 1983 and completed almost all the courses conducted by them.

He is also a visiting lecturer at the Tourism Faculty of the National University of the Maldives.

Saboor Chatoor receives ISO certification

Saboor Chatoor (Pvt) Ltd has been in business for more than 100 years and exports spices and various agricultural produce to different parts of the world.

Singer opens showroom in Kadawatha

Singer Homes recently opened a showroom at Kandy Road, Kadawatha. The opening of this branch is another addition to Singer's branch network.

DFCC Vardhana Bank honours customer loyalty

The Bank's Avurudu promotion titled: "DFCC Varthana Thegi Lithai Banku Pothai" will be held on a much larger scale than previous years, and will continue till May 2. Customers will be able to take home gifts ranging from pens, electric kettles, rice cookers, gas cookers, electric hot plates, water filters, refrigerators and LCD televisions.

The gifts are determined by the value of the deposits made to the Mega Bonus and Vardhana Junior savings accounts during the period of the promotion.

Harcourts Wellness Centre opens shortly

The Harcourts pharmacy chain will open a concept centre - Harcourts Wellness Centre at R.A. De Mel Mawatha (Duplication Road) shortly. Harcourts Wellness Centre will have a fully-fledged pharmacy, a designated cosmetics gallery, a sports nutrition lay out and a state-of-the-art salon under franchise from Paul Penders of America. The salon will be managed by beautician Annette Wickramaratne. The Wellness Centre will also have the services of a doctor for consultation and an American trained nutritionist.

Triumph launches T-Shirt bras

Triumph launched T-Shirt brassieres at Odel, Alexandra Place recently. In collaboration with the Italian manufacturer of Sensitive Fabric, and the world Land Trust (a non-profit organisation), Triumph is working to save the earth's natural assets through the production of underwear.
