'The more opportunities you create, the more chances you get'
Is there really such a thing as good luck? You would probably agree
that some people have more good things happen to them. Let's just call
that luck. We all like to become lucky.
The fact remains that you have no control over luck but you can
increase the probability of luck by increasing your chances through
activities you have control over. The more opportunities you create the
more chances you get.
Maximise your chances
It's usually others who bring you the luck. You need other people's
support to achieve your goals: friends and family, colleagues, employers
and employees, suppliers and customers. More relationships maximise your
chances. The same probability will then offer you more opportunities to
get lucky. The stronger you are with knowledge and skills, the closer
you will be to good fortune. Pretending to have the strengths you do not
actually have will not take you anywhere.
You have to consistently develop strengths and overcome weaknesses.
This will increase your chances of getting lucky. Luck in a bigger
league is better than luck in a smaller league. So use all your strength
get into the big league and play with a focused mind.
Be prepared for luck
You have to convey who you are and what you want. Work on your
language and presentation skills. I mean your use of words, ability to
project and write clearly and simply but forcefully. Others respond to
what they see and hear. So you got to show, be heard and make others
feel.
Start every morning by looking in the mirror and saying, "I am smart,
I am successful, I am happy and I can do it". Such affirmations are ways
of planting the seeds of success in your subconscious, helping you to
think positively and to be more prepared for luck.
The choice to make
You have a choice to make; give luck a chance to happen by practising
these habits and working harder to achieve things or simply do nothing
but wait for luck to come. Sure you can get lucky every once in a while
and find an easy path to success. But will you be able to maintain that
success, or is it just a fluke? Will you be able to repeat it? Once
other people learn how you did it, will you find yourself overloaded
with competition?
When you discipline yourself to do what is hard, you gain access to a
realm of results that are denied to everyone else. The willingness to do
what is difficult is like having a key to a special private treasure
room.
The nice thing about hard work is that it's universal and works in
your favour in any situation. It doesn't matter what job you're in -
hard work can be used to achieve definite positive long-term results.
