Vijitha Yapa's 2013 Postcard Desk calendar launched
The Sri Lanka Images Postcard Desk Calendar 2013 produced by Vijitha
Yapa Publications is now available.
The calendar has 12 postcards, one for each month.
At the end of each month the postcards can be detached and sent out .
Unlike a normal calendar, with the postcard concept, the cards are
reusable.
The product has 12 pictures depicting various aspects of Sri Lankan
life. The cover picture features two baby elephants frolicking in the
river at Pinnawela. The calendar also contains a picture of the only
woman drummer depicted in any Sri Lankan ancient mural which can be seen
at the Mulkirigala Temple built in the 2nd century BC. Some of the other
pictures are of Ruvanweliseya from a new angle and four pictures of
elephants performing various tasks. The calendar also has a picture of
the 12 ton statue of the giant jade Buddha which was displayed at the
BMICH two months ago.
Vijitha and Lalana Yapa have taken the photographs capturing scenes
which are unusual and of interest.
