Malkanthi promotes sports at GHS

Encouraging sports activities.... Malkanthi Abeygunasekera - the
Principal of Girls High School, Kandy (left) has been appointed as
Colonel of the Sri Lanka Cadet Corps. She was an outstanding netball
player at Pushpadana Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy where she had her education
from 1968 to 1981 and thereafter she was at Peradeniya University from
1982 to 1986 and passed out as a Special Arts Graduate.
Having got through many examinations, she obtained her Master of
Philosophy Degree in 2001. She bacame a teacher in 1987 at Narangolla
MMV and then became Deputy Principal of Kegalle Balika Vidyalaya and
served in that school from 2005 to 2007 and switched over as Principal
of Girls High School, Kandy when then Principal Mrs. H.M. Wataliyadde
retired.
Mrs. Abeygunasekera is setting a fine example of promoting both
studies as well as sports among the students of Girls High School, Kandy
and the school seems to be on a good footing. |
