National, district level delimitation committees

Initiative for new electoral system
The Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry
has taken the initiative in the process of implementing the new
electoral system at future Local Authorities elections. It has appointed
national and district level delimitation committees for the division of
Local Authorities’ areas into wards, to determine the boundaries of the
wards and give names and numbers to the wards.

Environment Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa who
served as Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) appointed
to probe the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Shirani
Bandaranayake said that those who walked out of the PSC proceedings now
talk about its impartiality and other issues.
